
December is a month for mixed feelings. From “Oh my god another year is almost gone :(” to “yay! Holidays! XD”. To me, December means more than just counting down to Christmas holidays or writing down New Years resolution. It is a legit 1/12 of a year, so why not start the changes you want from 1st December?
“The earliest moment is when you think it is too late.” The greatest gift from December is that it makes you realize how much you have accomplished and more importantly, how much you have not. So when you realize you have not read enough books in the year, go pick one up at the nearest bookstore; when you realize you have not caught up with a friend, dial his or her number up; when you realize you have not achieved your fitness goals, shut down your computer and go outside for a jog.
Strategic planning is indeed crucial. But “next year would be better” is only a fancy dream if we ignore the time passing by at this moment and wait until midnight 31st December to draw a big picture of the year next. Instead, start the changes now, and give yourself a better ‘You’ as the New Year gift a month later.
