What attracted both Paris Hilton and Thom Browne to come down to Soho on a 90 °F Wednesday afternoon? The answer is Libertine’s spring/summer 2020 runway show at New York Fashion week.

Known for creating colorful embellished vintage garments and bold screen-printing graphic pieces, the Los Angles-based fashion label has gained a cult following since its first launch in 2001, and appeared on a number of A-list celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry and Tyga.

The spring/summer 2020 is a home fabric and wall paper collection, collaborated with Schumacher, the more than a century old American decorative textiles company, and also inspired by Chinese traditional art and cultural motifs, which you could already notice from the gold-embroidered, blue and white porcelain patterned carpeting on the runway. Similar patterns and embroideries were applied on silk blazers, blouses and pants, achieving a total look of vintage luxury. Crystal embellishments were also generously used many of the velvet black blazers and silky shirts, with matching pants or jeans.

Other impressive prints and patterns this season feature orange Tibetan tigers, fuchsia dragons and pink roses. Johnson Hartig, the designer mixed the eclectic color contrasting elements of wallpapers into sophisticated, fun and eye-catching pieces like modern versions of imperial gowns.  No wonder rock stars and musicians line up for Hartig’s designs, with which it’s difficult not to look and feel like a king or queen on the stage.
