It’s Sunday night but no too late to party. At Kim Shui’s fashion show in New York, guests went full force dressing themselves up in party outfits to celebrate the trendy label’s Fall 2020 runway. Among those eye-catching costumes, you could see familiar faces such as Lil Mama, Tinashe and Kiko Mizuhara on the front row.

Founded in 2016, the Forbes 30 Under 30 designer’s label has already gained popularity among celebrity clientele and street fashion icons including Cardi B, Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Kylie Jenner and Solange Knowles. The signature “Ming Dynasty meets Eurotrash” concept is certainly not missing in this new fall collection. Inspired by traditional Chinese Qipao dresses, the body-hugging silky dress and sets with colorful butterfly prints and Chinese ancient motifs are in a variety of fun silhouettes that offer sexy but cool looks.

There were also many less revealing alternatives this season. For example, two-piece silk top and pants sets with traditional motifs, and my favorite: a white plunge neck Chinese calligraphy printed jumpsuit with silk fabric that elegantly glows under light, and a drape back that gently flows while walking. It has the relaxing style and comfortness that women in Ming Dynasty would have died for, and the unique personality to get instantly noticed in a crowd.

Outerwear in this collection include wool coats with mixed prints, oversize bell-sleeve mixed materials trench/leather coat, cropped plaid wool jacket with matching tube top and a few others. Each of the eclectic styles possesses interesting details and is ready to make a statement in the cold weather.

Also worth noting are the footwear on many of the models – the ankle-tie pumps customize with the classic white Adidas Originals superstar and swarovski crystals on the black stripes. The go-well-with-everything and street-style-must-have superstar was successfully elevated with this creative customization and makes me want to immediately order a pair if they are available.
